General information

The Women in Aerospace golf tournament will be held on Friday, May 16, 2008 at Potomac Ridge Golf Course in Waldorf, Maryland (see below for address and directions), from 1:00 p.m. to approximately 8:00 p.m. A bag lunch will be served and participants will be given some time to hit balls at the driving range prior to the 1 p.m. shotgun start.

Registration is now open, and we encourage all golfers -- whether male or female, beginner or expert -- to join us for a fun-filled afternoon of golf and networking. Registration for both the Clinic and Tournament includes lunch, dinner, full beverage package, and all golf-related fees.

18-Hole Tournament

For the more adventurous - not necessarily more skilled - golfers, we are continuing our traditional 18-hole best-ball/scramble tournament. All golfers will receive a gift bag, bag lunch, full beverage package throughout the day, and dinner with their registration fee of $150 for private sector registrants and $95 for public sector/non-profit employees.

Rental clubs available for golf tournament participants (cost is $35); contact Potomac Ridge at 800-791-9078 to reserve a set.

Golf Clinic

For beginners, we are offering a clinic that will run in parallel with the 18-hole tournament. The group will spend about 2 hours learning and improving golf skills before spending some time on the course. If you have clubs, bring them, otherwise they will be provided by the golf course. All golfers will receive a gift bag, bag lunch, full beverage package throughout the day, and dinner with their registration fee of $150 for private sector registrants and $95 for public sector/non-profit employees.

Awards Dinner

Following the tournament and clinic, we will again be providing dinner from Red Hot & Blue. During dinner, we will be handing out awards for the top-finishing teams in three categories: men's division (3 or more men on a team), women's division (3 or more women on a team), and mixed (2 men, 2 women).

Auction to benefit WIA's scholarship fund

In addition, we will be auctioning off donated items to raise money for the WIA scholarship fund. Our Board of Directors has committed that all funds raised during the post-play auction will go directly to a scholarship fund to be initiated this year. We are soliciting prizes for both the raffle and auction. Last year, we raised over $1,300; this year, our goal is to raise much more.

If you have an item you would like to donate, please contact Eileen McGowan, Golf Tournament Chair, at golf@womeninaerospace.org. Please be creative!

If you or your company would like to donate an item for our auction, please fill out the Silent Auction Gift Form. You may fax the completed form to (314) 965-1070 or scan and email it to golf@womeninaerospace.org.

Teams and sponsorship opportunities

Individual golfers for either the Clinic or the 18-Hole Tournament

The table below lists the levels and benefits for sponsorship opportunities for golfers and non-golfers alike. All "Golf Sponsorships" include at least one foursome, contest coupons for each player, and a sponsor sign at one of the holes on the course. Higher-level sponsorships provide additional benefits and recognition to your company. "Non-Golf Sponsorships" are for companies that wish to support WIA without fielding a team. Executive branch employees must pay for themselves (see 5 C.F.R. 2653.203-205, which governs standards of ethical conduct for employees of the Executive Branch).
