Rosanna Sattler

Rosanna Sattler is a partner with the Boston law firm of Posternak Blankstein & Lund LLP, and chair of the firm's Space Law and Telecommunication Group, as well as its Litigation Group, with extensive knowledge about a range of emerging legal issues in the commercialization of outer space. In her 29-year career, Rosanna has earned a national reputation representing companies in high-profile complex commercial disputes, as well as in highly publicized environmental matters. She regularly provides consulting services to companies regarding compliance with federal and state laws and regulations. She frequently represents clients before federal and state agencies.
In January of 2007, Rosanna, in her capacity as Vice Chair of the Space Enterprise Council of the V.S. Chamber of Commerce, made a presentation concerning the impact of export controls of the space industrial base to the Defense Space Board, a Federal Advisory Committee, established to provide independent advise to the Secretary of Defense.
In February 2007, Rosanna was in Strasbourg, France, presenting at the 11th International Space University Symposium: "Why the Moon?" Rosanna spoke about Space Property Rights. Rosanna was a panelist on Space Property Rights at the Return to the Moon VI Conference, sponsored by the Space Frontier Foundation, in July 2005. She was also a presenter at the International Lunar Conference, Toronto, Canada, in September 2005 on the topic of transporting a legal system from the Earth to the Moon.
In November 2006, Rosanna participated in the Space Panel of the Harvard Business School "Cyberposium 12" Technology Conference titled "Need directions? Mapping future technology".
In 2003, Rosanna authored an article in Kluwer Law International's Air & Space Law concerning U.S. commercial activities aboard the International Space Station. Rosanna's interests include liability and insurance for space endeavors as well as the developing law of contract and property rights in space. In the summer of 2005, the University of Chicago International Law Review published Rosanna's article about property rights in space. The same year, she also authored a chapter about space property rights, which appeared in the Apogee Books Space Series, 57, entitled "Return to the Moon".
Rosanna was named a Massachusetts Super Lawyer in 2004, 2005 and 2006 in Boston Magazine.
Rosanna received her JD from Harvard Law School and her BA from Yale University.
Rosanna is the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce; Chair of the Board of Directors for ProSpace, Inc.; Member of Space Enterprise Council, American Bar Association's Forum on Air and Space Law, Space Frontier Foundation, National Space Society and Institute for Space Law & Policy.
