In the spirit of the 2nd Part of WIA’s upcoming “Race and Gender Equity Program”, we are highlighting the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts of our 4 Premier Partners. Today we are highlighting The Aerospace Corporation.

As the nation’s trusted partner for the preeminent space enterprise, The Aerospace Corporation understands that innovation comes from bringing together broad perspectives and diverse backgrounds to achieve a shared mission.

Commitment to Our People is one of our core values at Aerospace. We continue to deepen this commitment through our efforts in advancing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and creating an inclusive work environment that embraces different perspectives, ideas, experiences, and people.

In 2020, we implemented an even more comprehensive program, with increased funding to support DEI initiatives and established the Aerospace Committee for Equality (ACE) to lead our efforts. Our results have been encouraging and we continue to build on this progress.
Bettering Our Workplace and Communities

Aerospace’s representation for diverse groups and women continues to exceed industry-wide benchmarks at corporate-wide and executive levels, and diversity within our Board of Trustees membership has increased. We encourage our employees to engage DEI through dialogue, training and education. We provide resources and programs, including a career re-entry program to support technical women returning to the workforce with a 100% conversion rate and a diversity referral program that exceeded its initial goals. We’ve expanded our scholarship programs to create additional opportunities for underrepresented students, established fellowship programs focused on diversity, and launched multiple community outreach and K-12 STEM initiatives.

Combating Unconscious Bias While Strengthening Allyship

Objectivity and integrity are ingrained in Aerospace’s culture. It’s what enables us to advance the best solutions for the hardest problems in space. We’ve provided training programs that equip our employees with the skills and resources needed to identify and mitigate unconscious bias. Our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) provide opportunities to learn about allyship and bystander intervention. We worked with our managers at all levels to incorporate DEI into their performance goals.

Empowering the Brightest Minds

At Aerospace, our people are our greatest strength. We are dedicated to identifying and cultivating diverse talent for future management and technical leadership positions. Our initiatives include expanding mentorship/sponsorship and professional development programs that ensure pathways and opportunities for diverse talent career progression. We’re building on our engagement and partnership with Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Going Farther, Together

Aerospace remains committed to strengthening our culture and fostering a diverse and inclusive environment where all our people can thrive. We will continue to transparently share our progress as we move forward on this journey together.
