Looking back on a night of honors...

On December 2nd, the industry gathered for the first time in two years to celebrate Women in Aerospace's 36th Annual Awards Dinner & Ceremony. We were very honored to highlight those who received and presented awards and scholarships for 2020 and 2021. Each introduction and acceptance speech conveyed the diversity of ways that women are breaking barriers in this field.
One of the most inspiring parts of the ceremony was dedicated to the eight WIA Foundation scholarship winners. Throughout their college careers, these young women have demonstrated incredible passion for aerospace. It will be amazing to see how much of an impact they will bring to this field, and we are very proud to have been a part of each of their journeys.

Eleven incredible women from 2020 and 2021 were awarded our top honors. Their careers are varied; the awardees ranged from research scientists, CEOs, top NASA leaders, heads of space sectors in private industry, educators, and even a former astronaut. Each of them has led by example. Our award winners have broken many barriers for women in the STEM field. Which, in turn, now serves as a guide to the younger generations.

WIA is once again very humbled to acknowledge all of our recipients’ phenomenal achievements. A great message and reminder to us all from the evening couldn’t have been better said when our 2020 and 2021 Leadership Award winners, Kathryn Lueders and Dorothy Rasco, took the stage together to receive their awards. With their arms around each other, Lueders stated to the room, "we are not done, we have much more work to do", in what was one of the most memorable images of women supporting women.

We hope you enjoyed our premier event and we look forward to seeing you all at next year’s Awards Dinner & Ceremony. Please visit our website for more photos and information on memberships, scholarships and donating to our Foundation.
